A Canadian of Nigerian roots with over 20 years of experience in translation teaching and practice, Dr. Segun Afolabi is an Assistant Professor of Translation at the University of Regina. He bagged PhD in Translation from Université Laval, Québec; MA in Translation from the University of Lagos, Nigeria; and BA in French Language from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife, Nigeria. His research interest lies at the intersection of professional translators/interpreters training, theory and history of translation, translation policies, CAT tools, neural machine translation, FLE/FLS pedagogy, bilingualism, French for special purposes (FSP), languages for sustainable development, and education in a migration context. Apart from being a celebrated translation scholar, Segun is also a dedicated practitioner. He is a certified translator and member of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) as well as the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Saskatchewan (ATIS) where he currently serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary. He is passionate about community service and giving back to society.
