Roles and Responsibilities
Board members are the governing body of the ATIS. They are committed to the long-term interests of the ATIS and meet every month to oversee and direct business operations, set policies, approve decisions, evaluate executive performances, and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities.
President
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Run the meetings
- Assign tasks
- Help and support all the other board members
- Sign all the documentation needed
- Responsible for the Admin Assist
In order to be considered for this position, the candidate will have to:
- BE A CERTIFIED MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING for at least 12 months before applying for the position.
- Agree to attend all (if possible) board meetings and the AGM. Not attending three board meetings in a row, without a good excuse, will automatically disqualify the member from the position.
Vice-President
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Run the meetings in the absence of the President
- Help and support all the other board members
In order to be considered for this position, the candidate will have to:
- BE A CERTIFIED MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING for at least 12 months before applying for the position.
- Agree to attend all (if possible) board meetings and the AGM. Not attending three board meetings in a row, without a good excuse, will automatically disqualify the member from the position.
Treasurer
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Present a financial report at every board meeting
- Pay all invoices promptly
- Prepare all documentation for the accountant
- Communicate with the Membership Director and the Website Director regarding the members (not) in good standing
- Communicate with the Exam Coordinator regarding the candidates for the examination (paid/non-paid)
- Signing authority
In order to be considered for this position, the candidate will have to:
- BE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING for at least 12 months before applying for the position.
- Agree to attend all (if possible) board meetings and the AGM. Not attending three board meetings in a row, without a good excuse, will automatically disqualify the member from the position.
Exam Coordinator
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Decide on the dates for the orientations and the exams and communicate them promptly to the Website Director
- Prepare and deliver the mandatory orientations for the associate members and for the members going for certification
- Collect data regarding the language combinations from the candidates
- Assign candidates’ ID and communicate them promptly to the candidates
- Communicate with STIBC regarding markers and texts for the associate exams
- Communicate with CTTIC regarding markers and texts for the certificate exams
- For the in-person exams, scan / save and send the exams either to STIBC or to CTTIC
- Communicate the results to the candidates
- Communicate with the Membership Director and the Treasurer in the case of successful candidates / appeal cases.
- Supervise the in-person exams with help from the other board members
- Collect the frequent questions from the candidates to create FAQ on the website
- Communicate with the candidates

- BE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING for at least 12 months before applying for the position. Certified member preferred for this position.
- Agree to attend all (if possible) board meetings and the AGM. Not attending three board meetings in a row, without a good excuse, will automatically disqualify the member from the position.
Membership director
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Communicate with the Treasurer and the Exam Coordinator and keep track of all members in Good Standing
- Prepare the annual certificates and have the President sign them
- Email the certificates to the members

- BE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING for at least 12 months before applying for the position.
- Agree to attend all (if possible) board meetings and the AGM. Not attending three board meetings in a row, without a good excuse, will automatically disqualify the member from the position.
Website Director
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Communicate with the Treasurer, the Exam Coordinator and the Membership Director to keep the members’database up to date
- Post the announcements for the exams promptly
- Keep the website up to date (exam amounts, news, webinars posts, etc…)
- Keep the list of the board members updated

Secretary
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Prepare documentation for the board meetings (agenda, minutes, doodle polls, etc) and circulate them amongst the board members
- Take notes during the meetings and prepare the minutes
- Distribute the emails to the corresponding board member
- Organize the email account

Board member at large
- Attend the board meetings and the AGM
- Help and support all the other board members
- Bring their expertise to the board
